FAQ

Is My Data Secure?

Data can be at its most vulnerable when disposing of redundant IT equipment. Therefore each item we collect is documented and issued a unique barcode and booked into our bespoke asset management system.

All data bearing equipment must then pass our data destruction process which overwrites the storage media no less than 3 times meeting both US and UK Government standards. All equipment that has passed the process is issued a certificate of erasure which is supplied within the provided asset report upon completion. Media that has failed the erasure process is securely destroyed onsite to permanently prevent future access to the stored data.

Am I Eligible For A Free Collection?

In order to provide a free computer recycling service we need to know the nature & quantity of the equipment and the collection address. These details may be provided via our online form or directly to our team via email or phone.

Over 90% of customers receive a cost-free service with more than 20 items (laptops, desktops, servers, TFT monitors) or those located within a 150 mile radius of our Manchester IT Recycling facility. We collect anywhere in the UK and we endeavour to answer all enquiries within the same working day.

What Happens To My Equipment?

Once we have processed and data erased your IT equipment we segregate the items into a reuse or recycle category. We strive to reuse as much equipment as possible, the items we cannot reuse are forwarded to licensed AATF's which breakdown the equipment into plastics, metals and glass.

What Environmental Paperwork Do I Receive?

Upon collection all the required environmental paperwork will be provided and filled in by our team. A representative will provide both a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note and a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note. We are fully licensed to both transport and process IT related waste.

How Long Does The Process Take?

Once we receive your details we can collect your equipment within 48 hours. Processing the IT equipment may take between 7 and 21 working days on average. Larger collections, especially those with a large amount of equipment to data erase may take slightly longer due to the time consuming constraints of the data destruction process. Each hard drive is erased at least 3 times and it takes around 1 minute per gigabyte.
